Which grade are you finishing?

This is the only question that matters right now. Everything else — stream, career, college — comes after this. Pick your stage and we'll show you every path available to you.

You can explore both sections — most students find it useful to see the full picture regardless of their grade.

After 10th Grade

Three paths. Completely different destinations.

Most students only know about the first path — 11th and 12th. The other two are equally valid, often faster, and better suited for many students. Read all three before deciding.

📖
Path 1 · Most Common

11th → 12th → Degree

The standard academic route. Choose Science, Commerce, or Arts in 11th, complete 12th, then a 3–5 year undergraduate degree. Opens the widest range of career options — but takes the longest to reach income.

⏱ 5–7 years to first job 💰 ₹2L–₹20L total cost 📈 Highest income ceiling

Path 2 · Fastest to Income

ITI or Polytechnic Diploma

Skill-based vocational training. ITI trades take 1–2 years. Polytechnic Diploma takes 3 years but allows lateral entry to B.Tech second year later. NCVT certificate recognised nationally and internationally.

⚡ 1–3 years to income 💰 Near-zero fees (Govt ITI) 🔒 AI-resistant trades

Path 3 · Most Stable

Government Jobs After 10th

SSC MTS, Railway Group D, Post Office GDS, Indian Army — all open to 10th pass candidates. Permanent employment, 7th Pay Commission salary, pension for life. Post Office GDS requires only 10th marks — no exam.

🛡️ Job security for life 💰 ₹22,000+/month in-hand 📅 SSC MTS: June 30, 2026

Common Questions

Questions every student asks — answered honestly.

No. Stream selection after 10th shapes which entrance exams you qualify for — but it does not permanently close any career. A Science student can do MBA. A Commerce student can do design. An Arts student can do digital marketing or law. Switching becomes harder after 12th, not impossible. The earlier you realise your stream does not suit you, the more options you retain. If you are still in 10th, choose based on genuine interest — not what your friends are taking or what seems prestigious.
ITI (Industrial Training Institute) courses are the fastest route to skilled employment — most trades take 1–2 years and lead directly to jobs or self-employment. The Electrician, Plumber, RAC Technician, and COPA trades have among the fastest hiring rates. Post Office GDS is the fastest government job — selection based on 10th marks alone with no exam required. Both are covered in detail in Blog 2 of this series.
Yes — and this is one of the most important things to understand. ITI courses require only passing 10th with no minimum percentage. Government jobs like SSC MTS and Railway Group D have no minimum percentage requirement beyond 10th pass. CA Foundation has no minimum percentage requirement from ICAI. Digital marketing and skill-based careers have no eligibility marks at all. Private engineering and management colleges admit with lower percentage requirements. Low board marks close some doors. They do not close most doors — and the doors they close are often ones that were going to be very difficult regardless.
Central government jobs — SSC, Railways, Post Office, Army — are India's most stable careers. Permanent employment, 7th Pay Commission salary (₹22,500+ in-hand for Level 1 posts), pension, and job security that private sector jobs cannot match. ITI trades like Electrician and Plumber are also highly stable — physical skilled work cannot be automated by AI and is always needed in every city and town. The honest trade-off: stability usually means a salary ceiling. Very high income requires paths with more risk and longer timelines.
Yes — with the right path and realistic timeline. A lawyer from a National Law University earns more than most engineers within 10 years. A Civil Services officer (IAS/IPS) earns far more than the average engineer. A psychologist in private practice or a successful content creator can match engineering salaries. The honest difference is time: most high-earning Arts paths take 8–12 years to reach high income, while CS engineering at a top college can reach ₹15L+ in 4 years. The ceiling exists for Arts. The path to it just looks different and requires more patience.
This is India's most common career conflict. The most productive approach: bring data to the conversation, not just feelings. Show your parents official salary data, placement records, and career path timelines for what you want to pursue. Most parents object because they are scared for your future — not because they want to control you. If you can show them a credible plan with real numbers from official sources (which is exactly what this website provides), the conversation changes. If the conflict persists, find a trusted teacher, career counsellor, or working professional in your chosen field to speak with your parents alongside you. Their fear is valid. Your direction is also valid. Both can coexist.
